Reality Check

Who are we kidding? I don't have time to edit this website very often, but I'm going to at least try to mix it up a bit.

I first created this site as a way to keep my international friends up-to-date with things happening in my life, but as time passed, I became busier and neglected the site more and more. The truth is, sites like Facebook and MySpace have made it easy for anyone to 'have a website'. Unfortunately, I got sucked in and pretty much use Facebook for everything, including making photo albums. I got rid of my MySpace page over a year ago because I was sick of all the ads and spam messages.

I love photography and take pictures whenever I can. I also collect postcards for fun. Below you'll find a few postcards from my collection and a couple of my 'artsy' photographs. The column to to the right will be for other photos to keep the face of the site nice and fresh.

Hopefully, I'll come up with some more fresh ideas for the site soon.

P.S. The 'gringa' part of the website name comes from the fact that I studied abroad in Brazil and was 1 of the 2 Americans in the whole city.

Latest Adventures

New York City June 2008

My first trip to The Big Apple during the warmer months. It was a fun-packed couple of days, full of visiting 2 old friends from FIU and making a few new ones. This time, I made it up to the last borough on my list to visit: The Bronx. Now that I've been to all the boroughs that make up New York City, I can die happy. :) This may be my last trip to NYC for a while, but I think it was definitely one of my favorites. It was the first trip where I didn't partake in 'touristy' things. (But of course I bought postcards, I wouldn't be me if I hadn't!)

 

Missouri May 2008

An awesome weekend trip to visit a friend from high school in the northern 'burbs of Chicago. She was my guide around downtwn St. Louis, the city zoo, and even to the top of the Arch. We then headed to Columbia, Missouri so I could meet her friends and explore the Mizzou campus. We celebrated my birthday one night and the next day went for a 12-mile bike ride along the Missouri River. We had beautiful weather, with the exception of the rain during the few minutes we were inside the Arch. It was great to visit a new state... And of course, I bought postcards!

A friend from Germany, that I met in Brazil in 2001, came to the US for a Model UN event, so of course I made a trip up to NYC to visit with her!
